How Do You Describe Your Role as a Peer Specialist?

In 2009, under the guidance of Dr. Mark Salzer Ph.D., Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion conducted a nationwide survey to collect the job descriptions of individuals working as peer specialists. This document has been used to help peer supporters understand their roles and the types of jobs available to peer supporters.

This year in 2023, Doors to Wellbeing is working with Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion to produce an updated document that captures the current day voices of peer supporters working in various roles and settings as Peer Specialists. The following new survey will help us assess the many changes and incredible growth of the peer specialist position in recent years which will be reflected through first hand descriptions of job duties. Our hope is that these documents when referenced together can be used to recognize how peer specialists jobs, tasks and duties have changed throughout the years.

If you are a Peer Specialist, we are asking for your support to take 15 minutes of your time to complete the newest survey.

This survey will remain open until October 20th, 2023.
