[NYAPRS Enews] NYAPRS' Cultural Competence Committee Celebrates Juneteenth!

NYAPRS Note: While we spend the day celebrating Juneteenth, marking the true end of slavery in the United States, we take time to reflect on the lasting impacts of slavery and its legacy of racism which still affects people of color. This is especially true for the Black community which continues to face barriers, including racial discriminating, to receiving comprehensive mental health care. Attached are two resources created by the NY State Office of Mental Health which detail the effects of racism on mental health. Please see below for NYAPRS' Cultural Competence Committee's statement for Juneteenth. We hope everyone takes the time to reflect, celebrate, and consider ways you can further the goals of freedom and end discrimination.
