About this Presentation



 This discussion will cover the importance of peer supervision, overview of the basics of supervision and the APS Specialty Track process of needs assessment, bringing together Subject Matter Experts and gathering content.



About the Presenters



Joanne Forbes, PhD, CPRP

Ms. Forbes PhD is a graduate of Rutgers University's Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation. Her research into peer supervision is considered a seminal work in the field. She has years of experience in the field of mental health as an administrator, educator, advocate, and supporter of peers. She is a frequent presenter at conferences and is the author of the book, Madness: Heroes Returning from the Front Lines. She started a peer run Customer Service Department in a large metropolitan State psychiatric hospital which evolved into Baltic Street AEH, Inc., one of the largest national peer-run agencies. She is a national trainer and expert not only in peer services but also transforming mental health systems to a recovery orientation.

Matthew McDonald, NYCPS, CRPA [cid:583e2b1b-a789-43fb-be4a-e4e7468d94a1]

Matthew McDonald is a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) and a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA). Navigating a decade-long path toward recovery himself, Matthew's lived experience provides him necessary and profound insights into myriad systems of care, as they exist in New York State. He previously worked as a Certification Coordinator for the New York Peer Specialist Certification Board (NYPSCB), interacting with hundreds of Certified and prospective Peer Specialists across New York. He has attended and facilitated networking, educational, and professional events, including as a conference organizer with the NYPSCB Annual Conference in 2020.
