[NYAPRS Enews] NYS Rehabilitation Council Seeks Applicants for 2023-25 Term

NYAPRS Note:  The New York State Rehabilitation Council is currently seeking diverse membership representation for its next 3-year term.  Representing New Yorkers with disabilities, the State Rehabilitation Council (SRC) works collaboratively with ACCES-VR to provide valued advice and guidance on vocational rehabilitation services to the New York State Board of Regents and the Commissioner of Education. The SRC membership is made up of least 51% of members with a disability and is inclusive of membership of all races and ethnicities, genders, ages, and sexual orientations. Attached please find the application.

Currently ACCES-VR is seeking membership from the following groups to serve on the SRC effective January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2025:



*       Individuals, including youth with disabilities, who have either applied for or receive/received ACCES-VR services

*       Representatives of Business, Industry and Labor

*       Directors of projects or their designee providing services to Native Americans under Section 121 of the Rehabilitation Act

*       Representative of a community rehabilitation service provider

*       Representatives of racial or ethnic groups or under-represented communities

*       Representation from the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) as a non-voting member

*       Youth with a disability age18-24



Although the SRC is specifically interested in members who fit the qualifications listed above, interested individuals who have a disability or who represent providers of services to people with disabilities, advocacy groups, parents and others are encouraged to apply.
