Subject: Today! Urge Washington to Increase SNAP Minimum Benefit, Other Food Assistance Programs

NYAPRS Note: Join Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), Feeding America, Center for American Progress (CAP), and other national, state, and community-based organizations across the country in signing a letter at https://frac.salsalabs.org/heroes-snap-sign-on-may2020/index.html urging Congress and the White House to immediately boost Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and make investments in other critical nutrition programs with proven health and economic impacts.

Sign on by COB Today Friday, June 12

SORRY FOR LAST MINUTE NATURE OF THIS REQUEST
Note: this letter is for organizations only.

After you sign, we urge you to circulate this letter. Senate leadership and the Administration need to hear the urgency of increasing SNAP benefits - and they need to hear it from every corner of the country. We have no time to lose.

COVID-19 has exacerbated already too high levels of food insecurity in America. SNAP is a proven program that alleviates food insecurity while also stimulating the economy. Congress and the White House must take action to limit the depth and duration of this health and economic crisis by providing a 15 percent boost in the SNAP maximum benefit, an increase in the SNAP minimum monthly benefit from $16 to $30, and a suspension of SNAP time limits and rules changes that would cut SNAP eligibility and benefits.

Additional investments must be made to other nutrition programs, including Pandemic EBT, CACFP, WIC, older adult nutrition programs, and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).

Thank you for your continued efforts to protect and strengthen the nation's nutrition safety net.
