As our Federal elected officials work to adjust the SBA Paycheck Protection Program legislation, we must fight to ensure that frontline human services workers are protected and supported.

That's why we are asking you today to call Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand, and your own Representatives and ask them to support key components of any new legislation, including:

*     Lifting the 500 employee cap on SBA Paycheck Protection Program loan eligibility for human services nonprofits;

*     Creating additional funding opportunities exclusive to human services nonprofits are also needed to ensure we do not have to compete with small businesses or other sectors for limited funds;

* Recognizing human services workers as essential workers in the COVID-19 "Heroes Fund" proposal to ensure that they are fairly compensated for their vital role in New York's COVID-19 response and recovery.

Senator Schumer's office can be reached at (202) 224-6542 or (212) 486-4430.
Senator Gillibrand's office can be reached at (202) 224-4451 or (212)-688-6262.

CALL SCRIPT:

My name is [NAME] and I work for [NAME of ORGANIZATION] in [CITY/ZIPCODE].

I am calling to urge [SENATOR/REP] to support lifting the 500 employee cap on SBA Paycheck Protection Program loan eligibility for human services nonprofits. Many New York human service organizations have merged or consolidated into organizations with well over 500 staff members due to underfunding from local governments. It is vital that these essential organizations have access to the SBA emergency loan program.

Additional funding opportunities exclusive to human services nonprofits are also needed to ensure we do not have to compete with small businesses or other sectors for limited funds. It is also critical that human services workers are recognized as essential workers in the COVID-19 "Heroes Fund" proposal to ensure that they are fairly compensated for their vital role in New York's COVID-19 response and recovery.

Thank you so much for your time. I truly appreciate the hard work everyone in your office is putting in right now during this crisis.
