NYAPRS Seeks Community Outreach Specialists for Statewide ‘New Choices’ Initiative

The New York Association of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (NYAPRS) is working to educate eligible Medicaid beneficiaries with behavioral health conditions about new changes and choices within the Medicaid Program for our ‘New Choices in Recovery” initiative, and is seeking to fill regional Community Outreach Specialist positions in Western NY, Central NY, the North Country, the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island.

The Community Outreach Specialist will engage and educate eligible individuals and groups in the community about newly available choices within the state’s Medicaid program and will also help facilitate the scheduling of regional presentations. They must be able to engage individuals from a variety of backgrounds in a variety of settings and to convey often complex information in clear ways. Must have lived experience of recovery and of NYS mental health and addiction services.

They must be able to track and log in documentation regarding their work activities; have a device capable of running MS Outlook, Excel and Word; have a vehicle, clean driving record, and adequate automobile insurance coverage.

Position requires flexible schedule occasionally including evenings and week-ends for 15 hours a week at $15.00 per hour.
