NYAPRS Note: In 2 weeks, New York will have a state budget agreement that will help set the course for how we will address and advance issues of critical importance to our community in the coming year.
In only 3 weeks after that, state and national officials and experts will be joining behavioral health agency leaders and advocates in an up close examination of many of these issues at our NYAPRS Annual Executive Seminar, “Beyond Survival to Success” to be held April 21-22 at the Albany Hilton.
After national experts Ron Manderscheid, Jeff Olivet and Dr. Ruth Shim provide a national frame about how states are implementing integrated population health policies, DOH’s Greg Allen, OMH’s Bob Meyers and OASAS’ Pat Lincourt will break down the impact of the enacted budget and where we are in implementing Medicaid Redesign’s numerous, sweeping initiatives.
DOH’s DSRIP lead Peggy Chan will then take a close at how the DSRIP program is faring through the eyes of both an upstate and downstate Performing Provider System while top FQHC, health plan and hospital representatives look at the impact of new payment systems on our behavioral health community.
The program will begin on the following day with a keynote panel on the “Intersection and Integration of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services” featuring SAMHSA and National Council experts and close with a candid look at Agency and Workforce Sustainability led by the coalition leader who commissioned the “New York Nonprofits in the Aftermath of FEGS: A Call to Action.”
In between, attendees will hear and discuss the latest advances in Successful Outreach and Engagement Strategies, Criminal Justice Diversion and Re-entry, Technology, Peer Support, Addiction and Trauma Recovery and Cultural Competence, presentations featuring prominent national experts who we’ll be highlighting throughout this week’s postings.
The Seminar has been designed to ensure that "everyone is in the room" when we come together to discuss the breaking trends and candid challenges facing the behavioral health and substance use community. Make sure you’re in that room! View the final program and register today at
