Gov. Cuomo to Combine State of State Address and Budget Presentation: Source

In a first, Gov. Cuomo this year will take the unusual step of combining his annual State of the State address with his budget presentation, a source with knowledge fo the change said.

The combined presentation is set for Jan. 21.

Cuomo was originally set to give his State of the State address last week, but postponed it because of the death of his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo.

The budget presentation was scheduled for later this month.

Combining the two will expedite the process after some raised concerns time was being lost to negotiate a final budget deal.

Doing both next week will allow the budget hearings and negotiations to commence more quickly, the source said.
