Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Students on College Campuses

Center for Mental Health Law 

This timely webinar will address the challenges and opportunities
associated with meeting the mental health needs of students on college
campuses. Karen Bower, senior staff attorney at the Bazelon Center for
Mental Health Law, will address campus mental health issues, identify
approaches that promote good mental health and academic outcomes, and
discuss litigation and advocacy on behalf of students. 

Ms. Bower will also discuss important questions about individuals'
rights and the responsibilities of academic institutions. School
responses to students in crisis, particularly if they manifest
self-injurious thoughts or behaviors, raise liability concerns when
well-intentioned but punitive campus practices discriminate against
students with actual or perceived mental illnesses.
