NYAPRS Seeks Long Island Peer Bridger 

 

NYAPRS is seeking to hire peer bridgers, people with lived experience of
mental health and substance use recovery, to support the wellness and
recovery of Long Island Medicaid beneficiaries with mental health,
substance use and health conditions.  

The positions are for 30 hour a week; hours will involve a varied
schedule, including occasional evenings and weekend work. 

Qualified individuals MUST have his/her own vehicle and a clean driving
record.  

This position includes health benefits and paid time off/holiday pay. 

Personal experience and knowledge of public mental health, substance use
and housing/support systems a plus. 

 

Responsibilities Include:

*	Working one-on-one with identified individuals throughout Nassau
and Suffolk counties who need support to advance their wellness and
recovery and to reduce their use of inpatient substance abuse and mental
health facilities
*	Engage referred individuals to form trust-based relationships
that foster hope for positive change and personal empowerment
*	Complete detailed written record of activities
*	Report to and meet with NYAPRS supervisor on a regular basis
*	Attend trainings as required
*	Additional duties as assigned
*	Travel to numerous locations in Long Island either to engage
members or to support the recovery of individuals we work with.  You
will be reimbursed for travel.  
*	Maintain personal wellness
