Title: "The Supporting Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities Initiative"

The Mental Health Association in New York State's (MHANYS) Supporting
Parents with Psychiatric Disabilities Initiative is funded by the New
York State Office of Mental Health. In this first year of a planned five
year Initiative, MHANYS is working with 30 community organizations to
develop and expand support services to parents using mental health
services around the state through training and technical assistance. The
Initiative has a 30 member Parents Advisory Panel guiding this work. The
Initiative is coordinating Expert Panels made up of parents, providers
and policymakers to make recommendations on best practices and to
develop resources and toolkits on issues impacting parents using mental
health services and their families.  MHANYS is partnering with NYAPRS
and the Institute of Community Research and Training at the College of
St. Rose on this Initiative.
