U.S. House Of Representatives Passes State Aid Bill

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on
Tuesday approved a measure that would send states $26 billion for
healthcare and education. 

The House voted 247 to 161 to send the bill to President Barack Obama to
sign into law. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi took the rare step of
calling the chamber back from its summer recess after the Senate passed
its version of the legislation last week. 

While Republicans say the measure will add to the country's budget
deficit, Democrats contend it will shave at least $1 billion off the
deficit and it is fully paid for by closing international tax loopholes,
cutting money for food stamps, and rescinding part of the earned income
tax credit.
