NYAPRS Note: What lies ahead for us?

We see the trends towards more mobile, individualized services that
support people with psychiatric disabilities in the community rather
than in long term service settings....but what could that actually look
like?

What's coming down the pike to better help promote the goals of people
with psychiatric disabilities to work, go to school, improve and/or own
their own housing, save money and parent?

How will new government or privately funded initiatives like the
Medicaid Infrastructure Grant or the Center of Excellence for the
Integration of Care operate and affect peers and providers?

How about a progress report on innovations that integrate mental health
care with physical health care, criminal justice initiatives and
emergency care reforms? And what's the latest on PROS and plans to
advance peer run Recovery Centers in New York?

NYAPRS and the NYAPRS Training Collective are very pleased to share
program, registration and sponsor/exhibitor materials associated with
our 5th Annual Executive Seminar on Transformation at www.nyaprs.org.

This year's program has been crafted to give participants the latest and
best information available on all of these topics, in a stimulating
environment designed to promote lots of networking and fun. Last year's
program drew 300 attendees so register today!

NYAPRS 5th Annual Executive Seminar on Systems Transformation

A Life in the Community

April 23-24, 2009

Crowne Plaza Hotel Albany, NY

This Executive Seminar on Systems Transformation aims to support and
energize today's executive and program leadership at statewide community
behavioral health agencies, state policymakers, advocates and
self-advocates to best meet the promising and pressing challenges of
mental health systems transformation that face us today. The Executive
Seminar furthers our goal to bring to our New York-based community the
nation's most innovative and inspiring leaders in promoting the
recovery, rehabilitation and rights, as well as the health and healing,
of people with psychiatric disabilities.

In times of challenge and change, this program introduces 'breaking
news' of emerging new service and support models that help demonstrate
what the next wave of transformation can bring.

Included are presentations aimed at:

* Promoting individualized and integrated person-centered support to
help people with psychiatric disabilities move from patient to
homeowner, worker, student, parent and investor.

* Overcoming fragmentation of care barriers to promote individualized,
integrated 'no wrong door' recovery-focused physical and behavioral
health care.
